What to Do Before Bringing the Deer to the Processor

Download Deer Processing Form Here

You should ensure that you field dress your deer immediately after the harvest and pack it with ice so that the temperature does not go above 40F. This is done because pathogens multiply at a very high rate between 40F and 140F.

1. Bring the deer to the 24-hour drop-off location.

2. Remove the menu from the mail box at the drop-off location from the box labeled "Fill out."

3. Fill out the menu completely, and legible.

4. Menu will have a number in the top right hand corner.

5. Remove yellow deer tag from box labeled "DEER TAGS."

6.  Take the numbered yellow tag and place it on the leg of the deer then write that number, with the sharpie provided, on the top right hand corner of your order form.

7. Upon completion of the menu, place the menu in the box labeled "Drop Here."

8. Place the deer in the 24-hour drop-off room.

9. Write down your number, and store it in a safe place, this will be required at pick up.

This is considered the danger zone and is likely to make you sick. So, to avoid such a scenario, proper field dressing is necessary. Call Burnie's Deer Processing if you have any additional questions.
